6 Ninepatch-Quilts

More than a year ago, 5 friends and me started a ninepatch-exchange. We all picked a theme and told each other what we wanted. And every second month, we had to sew 10 ninepatch blocks from our own hand-dyed fabrics. To me, it's absolutely amazing how different they all turned out. And we were so proud that we got them all DONE !!
Vor mehr als einem Jahr starteten 5 Freundinnen und ich einen Ninepatch-Blocktausch. Jede von uns wählte ein Thema. Jeden 2. Monat mußten wir dann 10 Ninepatches nach den jeweiligen Vorgaben aus unseren eigenen handgefärbten Stoffen nähen. Ich finde es einfach unglaublich spannend, wie unterschiedlich sie alle geworden sind. Und wir sind superstolz, daß sie alle 6 fertig geworden sind !!

And here they are - 6 very different quilts, yet united through their history and the friendships sewn into them. Thanks Billa, Conny, Inge, Iris and Tina - I'm happy to call you friends !!
Und hier sind sie jetzt - 6 sehr verschiedene Quilts, verbunden durch ihre Entstehungsgeschichte und die Freundschaften, die reingenäht sind. Danke Billa, Conny, Inge, Iris und Tina - ich freue mich sehr, daß ich euch Freundinnen nennen darf !!

"Florida Blues" by Billa. Different sizes of ninepatches, all shades of blues and a little bit of green-yellow.

"Purple on the run" by Conny. Fourpatches in the Ninepatches, all colors.

"Flowery Nine Patch" by me. Flower fabrics, matching greens and petal colors.

"Shared Passions" by Inge. All shades of red (and tiny pieces ...)

"Ordnung im Chaos" by Iris. She provided the brown and asked for all shades of blue. And: she added rectangles to all those squares!

"Mit Schokolade überzogenes Himbeer-Sahne-Eclair" by Tina. Different shades of brown and pink, coordinated to that beautiful flannel.

yes, I know it's not Sunday today ;-)) but we have a saying in Germany that goes like "better late than never". So - here's a bright Sunday picture for you!

You asked for it - well, I have some more exhibition pictures for you ;-)) Today, I'm sharing a rare opportunity I got during the show!
Na gut, ich hab da noch ein paar Bilder von der Ausstellung für Dich ;-)) Heute zeige ich eine ganz besondere Gelegenheit, die ich während der Ausstellung bekam ...

The lady you see sitting to the right was our cashier for coffee and cake. Friday afternoon, that was my job. And here's what I got to look at during those hours:
Die Dame rechts im Bild schiebt gerade Kassendienst - für Kaffee und Kuchen. Freitag nachmittag war das mein Job. Und das habe ich während dieser Stunden zu sehen bekommen:

See what I mean? How often do you get to sit in front of THREE of your quilts for hours, with spare moments in between - so you can really look and observe? I got my notebook out and jotted down what came to my mind, and yes, some more ideas are now breeding ;-))
Siehst Du, was ich meine? wie oft kriege ich die Gelegenheit, vor drei meiner Quilts für längere Zeit zu sitzen, immer wieder auch mal mit Leerlauf dazwischen - und mal wirklich zu gucken, zu vergleichen, zu überlegen? Zack, hatte ich mein Notizbuch vor mir und hab aufgeschrieben, was mir so aufgefallen ist - und ja, da sind auch neue Ideen dabei ;-))

Wie man deutlich sieht, ein Besuch der Quilt Art in Nürtingen macht einen Riesenspaß ;-))

First, I would like to show you a quilt I'm really proud of. It is not my quilt - it is a quilt my sister made and entered. 
Als erstes möchte ich Dir einen Quilt zeigen, auf den ich superstolz bin - und dabei habe ich ihn gar nicht genäht! Er ist von meiner Schwester - gut gemacht, Große !!!

Best of it: I met Susanne at the show! She came to visit her quilt ;-)) and we got to talk for a while. It is soooo cool to meet virtual friends in reality ;-))
Und das Beste: Susanne ist nach Nürtingen gekommen, um ihren Quilt zu besuchen ;-)) und wir konnten uns ein ganzes Weilchen unterhalten. Es ist einfach nur schön, virtuelle Freunde im echten Leben zu treffen ;-))

Under surveillance ...

I packed my stuff today, because I go to our Spring Retreat tomorrow !!! And Gina made sure I did not forget too much ;-)) I plan to sew some sleeves on quilts for our upcoming exhibition, and I packed a box full of scraps ;-)) just for FUN ! See you Sunday ...

Den heutigen Abend habe ich mit "Zeug zusammenpacken" verbracht - morgen fahre ich nämlich zum Frühjahrs-Retreat !!! Und Gina hat aufgepaßt, daß ich nicht zuviel vergesse ;-)) Ich werde noch ein paar Tunnel an Quilts annähen, die in die Ausstellung nächste Woche sollen. Und ich habe eine große Box Scraps eingepackt, einfach zum Spaß haben ;-)) Bis Sonntag !!

A finish: my Flowery Nine Patch Quilt!

YES - it is done !! all I need to add now is a hanging sleeve and a label - it is quilted, it is bound, we took pictures - and now, here's the picture (do you see we had a sunny evening ???) of the front:

FERTIG - hurra !! Jetzt fehlt nur noch ein Tunnel zum Aufhängen und ein Label ... der Quilt ist gequiltet, gebunden, wir haben Fotos gemacht - und hier ist das Bild (übrigens - Du siehst, wir hatten einen sonnigen Abend !!) der Vorderseite:

Did I ever mention how much I "love" doing bindings?

Big sigh ... in this picture you see about 270" of binding for the Flowery Nine Patch Quilt. Doing the binding on a quilt is my least favourite part of quilting. On the other side - that means, the quilting is DONE!! so this quilt will be finished in time for our upcoming group exhibition ;-))

Dieses Bild zeigt gefühlte 5 km Binding, die ich an den Flowery Nine Patch Quilt annähen werde. Das Binding ist mit Abstand der Teil am Quilten, den ich am wenigsten mag. Andererseits - das heißt, der Quilt ist fertig gequiltet! Also wird zumindest dieser Quilt rechtzeitig fertig für die Ausstellung der Nürtinger Quiltgruppe ;-))
