Occasional 4 has grown

Yes I know, I did not post a lot about Occasional 4 - but behind the scenes, I worked on it. Please excuse the not-so-nice-quality of the picture, my design wall is not big enough for working on this quilt! So I carefully arranged my four parts of "Occasional-4-in-the-making" on our living room floor. Take a good look ! I did that ... and no, I don't like it. Too busy - no place for the eye to rest on ...

This picture shows the 4 parts separated from each other - maybe I could add "something" in between? I thought about this idea for a while - and did not like it, too.
But what about doing not one quilt, but several? hmmmm ... something to think about ?

I linked to "Off the wall Friday" at Nina-Maries blog "Creations" - come over, let's explore some art quilter's blogs ;-))

Don't understand why you don't like this, I think it looks great. It has variety and yet does have unity with repeating shapes.

Very, very cool!

I like it the way it is. Although I can see how it could also look very cool divided up in four sections, possibly with something a bit less busy doing the dividing.

I think this looks wonderful! Full of life. I agree with Judy - it has variety AND unity. Busy, yes, but so fun. I wouldn't change a thing.

I'm in the love it camp too, as one piece it's heart stopping-ly fantastic, really eye catching. To me the 4 units looked more like a good idea that was repeated: not such a powerful impact

Hope it's ok to Pin it, let me know if you want it removed

I like it too, the colours you have used pull it all together even though it is busy...which I like too, the quilt is interesting and although there is no focal point my eyes wonder freely finding it pleasing to look at.

I love these blocks. It will be fun to see how you finish this.

one word - WOW! - the use of line is amazing - I might play with dividing it up - but it looks great together too!

I like it all in one piece too!
BUT four small ones is ok. What if you filled the separation with fabric to mimic the small blocks and treat it like one big crossed square?
